Someone ran a workshop. The wall is boxes, arrows, and a sticky that says “ASK MARIA.” People took photos on their phones. By Monday the board is wiped and the JPEG is the process.
What to shoot. Fill the frame. Get the whole map, not an artful crop of the happy path. PNG, JPEG, or WebP.

Someone says, “Walk me through what happens when a claim arrives.” Twenty minutes later you have spoken process: intake, a risk score, a junior reviewer, a senior reviewer if the score is high, a letter if it is denied.

How do I turn a whiteboard, SOP, or transcript into a process map?
Photograph the board or export the file. Upload it to a tool that does image to BPMN or documents to BPMN — not a generic image captioner. Review the generated BPMN 2.0 model for missing roles, missing exceptions, and unlabeled decisions. Fix those in conversation. Export XML or an image when the map matches the work.

How do I generate an SOP from a process?
Do it after you have a model, not before. A SOP written from memory is how you get two sources of truth. Generate the BPMN 2.0 diagram from the whiteboard, the old SOP, or the transcript. Correct it until operations agrees it is right. Then generate process documentation from that diagram and export Word, PDF, Markdown, or HTML.

What is the difference between BPMN and a flowchart?
A flowchart is a picture of steps. BPMN 2.0 is a standard for processes: events, activities, gateways, pools, lanes, and XML you can take elsewhere. Whiteboard photos and Miro boards are almost always flowcharts, even when someone wrote “BPMN” in the corner.

A flowchart tool is enough for a slide PNG. If you need a process map you can own, version, and eventually run, generate BPMN.

What to check before you trust the map
Treat the first diagram as a draft with a clipboard.
Every role on the board has a lane. If Maria is the process, say so, then give her a job title.
Every diamond has both answers. “If approved” is not a complete gateway. Where does the rejection go?
The unhappy end exists. Withdrawn offer. Vendor declined. Claim denied.
The photo is dated. If the workshop was in March, walk the model with someone who did the job this week.
